“Southern Cross is situated in the highly acclaimed Upper South East Region,
approximately 215 kms drive from the state’s capital providing as easy commuting journey for
business purposes and for off farm proprietors.
The property is very well suited to grazing with pastures of Lucerne, primrose, clovers ,veldt and
natural grasses.
Approximately 4,7223 Ha (10,434 Ac) cleared land under pasture with shelter belts (included in
10,434 Ac) Balance native vegetation under a heritage agreement.
Past cropping practices have been to grow Barley and Lupins in conjunction with a pasture
renovation programme. Cropped cereal paddocks are often under sown with Lucerne.
Livestock:
Ashrose and Southern Cross previously consistently de-pastured 6,000 + Merino sheep including
stud ewes and rams plus a beef cattle herd of some 230 + cattle, mainly Herefords
Past 5 years average DSE = 9,350 (approximately ) utilising centre pivots periodically .
Current vendor runs Merino ewes joined to Suffolk rams and a pure Suffolk flock.
Over the last four years 56.2 kms have been refenced and 55 kms of original fencing has had an
electric wire placed on the bottom.
Stock and domestic water is supplied via 7 bores – 2 mills, 3 solar submersible pumps and 2 electrical submersible pumps.
Pivot 1 and 3 can also be used to back up stock watering systems. Windmills are all 25ft towers.
